Though the Senate initially declines his request, a young Senator from [[House Zetar]], [[Marcus Publius of House Zetar]] meets with the King and strikes a private bargain to assist him in convincing the Senate to overturn its decision. M. Publius is successful and the Senate commands the standing [[Defensor Rei Publicae]], [[Crassus of House Zetar]], to take the Legions to defend their Camarian allies. Later historians believe that M. Publius convinced Crassus, his uncle, to conquer Medellis in the name of [[House Zetar]], not for the Republic.
