Feldosha is the surviving heartland of ancient Ulanthar, thought by some to be the first human empire, older even than Aebasa. According to legend, when the sacred river Ulan rose and reclaimed the land, the empire's cities sank into flood and silt, and its people were left as diminished heirs. Today's Feldoshans farm the same floodplain in the literal shadow of half-sunken dead cities and grass-grown tells, a proud, insular folk who tend those ruins as holy ground and hold their sacred sites inviolate even where the old meaning is long lost.
