What is a unit?

Answer: A unit is a group of Invictans lead by a Knight and his Second. Some units have a particular style (an all-rogue unit or an all-Cimmerian unit), but others are more general in their approach. Unit members are expected to support one another when possible, ensuring one another are properly equipped and operating efficiently.

How do I join a unit?

Answer: The best way to join a unit is to review the Roster and speak to the Junior Officer (Knight) of any units with empty slots.

What is a Division?

Answer: A Division is one of the organizational divides within Invicta, each commanded by a member of the Command Staff.

What is the guild's stance on PvP? Who can I attack?

Answer: It might be easier to define who you can't attack. Members of Invicta are not homicidal lunatics nor bandits. You must have a reason to attack someone. That said, reasons can range from being paid to do it (we are mercenaries), to defending a guildmate, to punishing someone on our internal KOS list to combat in a mini-game. As long as there's a good reason, you're in the clear. If in doubt, hold off and go on your way.

Where can I find a schedule of events?

Answer: We maintain two schedules of our weekly events, one here on this page (see Events), the other in the Announcements forum. You can also find event notices on our forums. Instance runs are announced in the Operations forum. Endgame Raids are announced in the Invicta Raiding Forum. Details on War College events are located in the Invicta War College forum.

Who's in charge?

Answer: You can review a full graphic of our command staff on the Organization page and review the ranks on the Ranks page. That said, Aurelius is the guild master as Lord of the House Maxtentius, Hrothgard is second-in-command as the Seneschal and head of Operations, Kemena is the Lady of House Maxtentius and head of the Household Staff, Tereska is our Ambassador and head of the Embassy, Kaper our Commandant and head of the White Stallion Brigade, Thorious is Commander of the King's Guard and Kyzafi is our Vizier. These are the members of the command staff and any of them can assume command of the Company, should a higher-ranking person not be online.

Furthermore, each unit within a division is assigned a junior officer (Knight), with a second of Squire rank.

If in doubt and you receive an order from a person of higher rank, its to be followed. If the order countermands an order from a higher-ranking individual, either follow the higher-ranking order or ask for clarification.

How do I get promoted?

Answer: A promotion in Invicta is both an IC and OOC responsibility within the Guild. It means more responsibilities and the more you'll need to sacrifice for the health of the guild as a whole. Its a whole lot more than just being able to ICly order folks around. When the officers make a decision to promote someone, both the IC and OOC benefits and negatives of that promotion are considered before making a decision. OOCly, an individual might be the perfect officer for the guild, but if their character displays IC traits that wouldn't make for a good officer, that will likely result in the officers not selecting them for promotion. The organization of Invicta is intended to promote fun and enjoyment for all its members and each of us take that responsibility seriously.

To be promoted from recruit to full member (Vassal or Squire), you must meet the following criteria:

  • Participated in a Recruit Review by the Master-at-Arms with Passing marks.
  • Registered for the Forums
  • Applied to a senior or junior officer within a Division

To be promoted from full member (Vassal or Squire) to junior officer (Knight), the following conditions must be met:

  • There must be an opening within your division (or in another division, if you are to be transfered)
  • Displayed leadership ability in the guild and proven to contribute
  • Applied to the senior officer in command of the Division you are seeking promotion in.

To be promoted from a junior officer (Knight) to senior officer (Commandant):

  • Promotion to senior officer will only be considered when a position in command is open.
  • Promotion will be by invitation only.

To be promoted from a senior officer (Commandant) to lord (Lord):

  • Don't even think about it.

What is the difference between Ranks and Positions?

Answer: Ranks denote a level of responsibility that determines where you fall in the chain-of-command for the guild. Positions define additional responsibilities on top of a person's rank, but which are unrelated to the rank of the person in that position. The only exception to this is Recruits, who cannot hold a Position in the guild until they are promoted to full member.
