Warcaptain Vashara is a possibly immortal, fire-scarred wizard-pirate whose presence is whispered with dread in every port from the Sea of Marosh to the edge of the Endless Ocean. Once a pyromancer in service to the Magocracy of Lun Dorak over a century ago, Vashara turned rogue during the final throes of the Magewar, disappearing into the trackless ocean with a half-burned experimental warship and a crew of renegades. His fleet, now known as the Emberwake Armada, sails beneath sails blackened with soot and stitched with glowing runes. Where Vashara sails, fire and ruin follow.

Vashara, Captain of the Ash's Remorse, Warcaptain of the Emberwake Armada, Pyroclast of the Sealed Flame. Human Male.
Overview
Vashara is cold, calculating, and apocalyptically fatalistic. He believes the world is burning, metaphorically and literally, and sees himself not as an agent of chaos, but as a cleanser of rot and decay. Though not cruel for cruelty’s sake, he shows little mercy and views most mortals as kindling in the bonfire of history. He is deeply philosophical, often quoting ancient Dorakian treatises in the moments before torching enemy ships or slavers' dens.
Description
Vashara is a dusky-skinned man with deep crimson eyes that flicker unnaturally, as though lit from within. His long, scorched robes constantly smell faintly of brimstone. His right hand is permanently blackened and clawlike – half-destroyed in by fire in some battle decades ago. Around his throat hangs a burnt torque said to bind a minor fire elemental. His voice is low, rasping, and strangely calm—unsettling for someone responsible for so much fiery devastation.
Background
A former high-ranking warcaster in Lun Dorak, Vashara led flame-forged battalions into foreign cities during the Magewar. After a magical experiment went awry, destroying an entire division, he was condemned, but escaped with his modified fire-ship, Ash’s Remorse. He fled westward, eventually joining Tamerynd's bloody chaos, where his skills earned him the respect of the Warcaptains. Some say he seeks redemption; others whisper darker motives, such as vengeance against the entire known world.
Religious Beliefs
It is generally believed that Vashara continues to worship Abaris the Enscribed, Goddess of Magic, as he would have done in his days in service to Lun Dorak.
