Overview
Nicephorus Gabras, a native of Ganesia, is a man of advancing years who, it is rumored, was a friend of the Prefect Basileios during the latter’s childhood. Even though his hair is now completely white and he must use a cane to walk, Gabras is a man of keen intelligence and much insight. Though it is officially his duty to handle the judiciary duties when the Prefect cannot, it is a rare circumstance that he is actually permitted to do so. Between Prince Petronas and the Legate Belisarius, there is precious little power to be spared when the Prefect is not in residence. Still, Gabras is the Prefect’s highest advisor, and it is said that those who wish the favor of the Prefect must first gain the favor of his Castellan.
