University of Neptaris

The University of Neptaris was originally founded in 34 NC by the sage Anesthos the Younger as a means to transfer his extensive knowledge of writing, mathematics and Hermetic Magic to the younger settlers of Neptag. After the death of Anesthos the Younger in 45 NC, the Rector of the House of the Quill attempted to assert his authority as selector of the King of Neptaris (first at the death of King Ikthios in 55 NC and again upon the death of his successor, King Aerolon in 81 NC, but this was generally ignored by early Neptarans in favor of primogeniture.

Upon the death of King Gremoran in 114 NC with only the infant half-elven Orris as a successor, the priests of Neptag called the First Ecumenical Council and elected Joandar, then Rector of the House of the Quill, to the position of Regent.
